Bernadette Ségol

General Secretary

"Over the past few years, several surveys have reported high and increasing levels of stress among European workers. Hence, stress in the workplace is a major source of concern for European trade unions since it is well known to have a damaging impact on individual health as well as on social and working life. To bring stress to an end, workers and employers should act together to identify and eradicate its causes. In this regard, particular attention should be given to work organisation and work intensity. The ETUC strongly hopes that the 2014-2015 campaign “Managing Stress” will foster well-being at work as a top priority in all European workplaces."

Our Campaign Pledge:

The key tasks of the 2014–15 campaign, Healthy Workplaces Manage Stress, can be found among the ETUC priorities related to occupational health and safety policies. New and emerging risks bring new challenges for social dialogue about health and safety at work, participative risk assessment and the cooperation of social partners in order to successfully manage stress at work and other psychosocial hazards. The ETUC will participate in the current campaign via seminars and training programmes organised namely by the ETUI but also through advisory activities and the promotion of the European framework agreement on work-related stress concluded by the European social partners.
